Attributes of God
The Sovereignty of God (part 2)
Many people believe God is generally in charge, but wrestle with what that means when life feels uncertain, painful, or out of control. In this message, Pastor Doug Link explores the full scope of God’s sovereignty — from nature and nations to everyday choices and suffering — showing that God’s absolute reign is the very foundation for gratitude in good times, patience in hardship, and unshakeable security in an unknown future.
The Omnipotence and Sovereignty of God
God’s omnipotence and sovereignty show that nothing is too hard for God and nothing can frustrate God’s purposes in heaven and on earth. Pastor Doug Link explains how God’s power and authority fit together, and why God’s perfect character means God cannot lie, change, or act against what is true and good.
God is Love
God’s love is his eternal, self-giving goodness that flows from his very nature and is revealed to creation in distinct and purposeful ways. Josh Hollingsworth emphasizes that God’s love originates within the Trinity, is holy and knowable, is shown differently toward different people, and is meant to transform believers into loving God and others.
Righteousness & Justice
God’s righteousness and justice flow from His holy nature, define His moral perfection, and set the standard for all His dealings with creation. Jason Southerland explains legislative, distributive, and redemptive justice, and urges gratitude for God’s just standards, reverent fear of unpunished sin, trust in God’s perfect justice, deeper thankfulness for the gospel, and rejection of self-righteousness. God is Holy, Holy, Holy
This lesson explores God’s holiness, showing that God is uniquely set apart in majestic greatness and completely pure. Pastor Ben Khazraee explains that God is “awesome in majesty and without any blemish,” points to Scripture’s vision of God’s holiness, and calls for reverent awe, hope through Jesus’s substitution, and holy living in response.
Omniscience
God’s omniscience means God knows all things with infinite, eternal, and unchanging knowledge that belongs to the Creator alone. Pastor Doug Link explains that God’s knowledge is infinite, immutable, independent, innate, and infallible, and he contrasts major views of divine foreknowledge while urging comfort and assurance.
God is Unchanging
This lesson explains God’s immutability, meaning God never changes in being, character, plans, or promises while still truly relating to and responding to people. Pastor Ben highlights biblical support for God’s unchanging perfections, purposes, and promises, answers common misunderstandings about God’s emotions and “regret,” and calls listeners to worship and find peace in God’s steady faithfulness.
Omnipresence
God’s omnipresence means God is truly present everywhere, without having physical size or spatial limits, and no one can flee from God’s presence. Pastor Doug Link emphasized that God’s omnipresence is inseparable from God’s infinity, immutability, eternity, and omnipotence and omniscience, urging believers to be comforted by God’s nearness and motivated to live with integrity before God.
God is Independent
God is perfectly self-existing and self-sufficient, dependent on nothing and no one, and therefore the source of all life and sustenance. Pastor Ben Khazraee tell us this means God did not create or save people out of need, but invites them to serve and trust him with gladness and confidence.
Attributes of God
Pastor Doug Link introduces a new series on the Attributes of God. He also covers the first attribute: God is spirit. Sorry, this recording is not available.
