Salt of the Earth

Luke 10:8-16 – Jesus’ disciples were becoming evangelists as they visited places ahead of Christ’s upcoming visit. Pastor Rod Bunton applies this passage to our own obligation to be the salt of the earth.

Believing is Seeing

Luke 10:1-12 – When Jesus sent disciples ahead of His planned journey, he made sure that they were equipped with the proper attitude and carried out the work in the best way. Pastor Rod Bunton teaches that it was important for the disciples to have the right perspective about seeing and believing.

The Harvest is Plentiful, the Reaping is Near

Luke 10:1-12 – Jesus sent disciples to places where He would soon visit to prepare the way and to proclaim the need for a savior. Pastor Rod Bunton explains that Christ felt compassion because these sheep were without a shepherd and headed for judgment.

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

John 11:25 – When Jesus heard that his friend Lazarus was gravely ill, He delayed coming to visit him before Lazarus died. Pastor Rod Bunton uses this Resurrection Day sermon to highlight the glorious reason for this delay.

The Cost of Following Jesus

Luke 9:57-62 – Jesus encounters three men who declare that they want to follow him, but none of them seem ready. Pastor Rod Bunton looks at this third passage in Chapter 9 that focuses on the theme of following Christ.

Mercy

Luke 9:51-56 – A planned visit to a Samaritan village provided Jesus with another opportunity to teach His disciples. Pastor Rod Bunton explores the lesson in mercy when the Samaritans refused to receive them.

Lessons in Humility, Part 2

Luke 9:46-50 – Children held low status in society during the time of Christ, which is exactly why He told His disciples to become like the child. Pastor Rod Bunton concludes his teaching from this passage about the importance of humility in our spiritual growth.

Lessons in Humility, Part 1

Luke 9:46-50 – Even in the presence of the Messiah, the disciples became infected with pride. Pastor Rod Bunton begins to look at this passage and the importance of humility in our spiritual growth.

A Faithless and Twisted Generation

Luke 9:37-45 – After the magnificent “mountain top” experience of the transfiguration, Jesus encountered a very different “valley.” Pastor Rod Bunton teaches about the spiritually weak disciples who failed to strengthen their faith through prayer.

Eyewitnesses to His Majesty

Luke 9:27-36 – Although the apostles had heard from Jesus about his plans to die on the cross at Jerusalem and to be resurrected, they didn’t fully understand. Pastor Rod Bunton teaches that Peter, James, and John were given a unique preview of Jesus’ post-resurrection glory.

Take Up Your Cross

Luke 9:23-27 – What does it take to become a disciple of Christ? Pastor Rod Bunton tells us that it takes something that is not natural to man and requires the supernatural power of God.

Peter’s Confession

Luke 9:18-22 – The apostles declared Jesus as the prophesied Messiah soon after they met Him and yet, after spending much time together, Jesus asked them, “Who do you say that I am?” Pastor Rod Bunton explains how the answer to this question had a deeper meaning.
