A Mediator Through Death

Hebrews 9:15-22 ~ The writer of Hebrews reminds us that a covenant requires the shedding of blood, just as the Mosaic covenant also began with blood. Pastor Rod Bunton explains that Christ became the mediator of the new covenant at the time of His death.

Through the Blood of Christ

Hebrews 9:11-14  ~ In the first part of this chapter, the writer of Hebrews looked at the tabernacle — that place where God dwelled and atonement for sin was made. Now, Senior Pastor Rod Bunton continues with this passage and shows that the new atonement — through the blood of Christ — doesn’t just cover our sins, but cleanses us of them, purifying our consciences.

The Earthly Holy Place

Hebrews 9:1-14 ~ Pastor Rod Bunton moves into chapter 9 and reviews the tabernacle from the days before Christ; the man-made dwelling place for God that was attended by imperfect priests.

A Better Covenant, Part 2

Hebrews 8:6-13 ~ Pastor Rod Bunton concludes chapter 8, looking deeper into the qualities of the new covenant and why it is better than the old covenant of the law.

A Better Covenant, Part 1

Hebrews 8:6-13 ~ Pastor Rod Bunton continues in chapter 8, teaching that our Great High Priest made a perfect sacrifice that lasts forever and, with it, brought us a new covenant that is much better than the Mosaic covenant.

The Parable of the Good Land Owner

Matthew 20:1-16 Jesus teaches that God’s kingdom upends our assumptions about fairness as the landowner’s generosity exposes envy and calls for grateful trust in God’s ways. Pastor Doug Link emphasizes that God is perfectly just, good, and sovereign, and that eternal life is given equally to all who belong to Christ, so believers rejoice in God’s generosity rather than resent it.

Make Much of Christ: The Seated High Priest of a Better Covenant

Hebrews 8:1–13 The passage explains why believers must make much of Christ, who fulfills everything the Old Testament priesthood, tabernacle, and sacrifices could only point toward. Pastor Rod Bunton emphasizes that Jesus is the seated High Priest who offers one finished sacrifice, ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary, and mediates a better new covenant that brings forgiveness, inner transformation, and a restored relationship with God.

A Permanent Promise

Hebrews 7:20–28 Doubts and insecurity can make it hard to know whether anyone can truly have lasting access to God, especially when relying on religious effort or personal performance. Pastor Rod Bunton shows that Jesus is the forever high priest who guarantees a better covenant by God’s unchanging oath, continually intercedes for those who come through him, and secures complete salvation through his perfect life and once-for-all sacrifice.

A Better Hope

Hebrews 7:11-19 Hebrews 7 shows why the old priesthood and its rituals could never bring people into God’s presence, because God’s standard is perfection and the law can only expose sin, not remove it. Pastor Rod Bunton explains how Jesus is the greater priest who replaces the old system, lives forever, and gives believers confident access to God through his finished work.

The Priestly Order of Melchizedek, Part 2

Hebrews 7 Hebrews explores why Jesus’ priesthood is legitimate even though he does not come from the Levitical line, by looking at the mysterious priest-king Melchizedek and God’s work outside the later Jewish system. Pastor Rod Bunton explains how Melchizedek points to Jesus as the greater, eternal King and High Priest who gives righteousness and peace with God, calling listeners to worship Christ and trust him as the only mediator.

The Priestly Order of Melchizedek, Part 1

Hebrews 7:1-10 This message explores how Melchizedek in Scripture points beyond the old religious system to a different kind of priesthood that truly brings people into God’s presence. Pastor Rod Bunton explains the big ideas of Christ as the eternal priest-king who provides real righteousness and peace with God, and invites listeners to consider who they are trusting as their mediator.
